I am concerned about my oil pressure gauge not working and I fear the block could be over heating...

If the valve covers (or radiator hose returning to engine) are too hot to touch after 5 minutes, I'd turn it off and check things.

What's the engine temp? You're good to about 215, then shut it down. The thermostat should open well before that and let the coolant in. I usually drill a small hole in the thermostat to help with air pockets getting out. Make sure you have a full jug of coolant handy, so you can fill up the radiator after the engine take a long drink. Did you "clearance" the water pump? Basically, you want the impeller blocking plate as close to the pump impeller as possible. My Lemans ran hot when I broke her in, but once I filled her up again, it's been a consistent 180 degrees, which is what my thermostat is.

Oh ya! All that RTV, greasy fingerprints, paint, and gasket material will let off a nice toxic cloud for a little while.

I have no clue on the temp, my temp gauge isn't working.

There was, luckily none out the exhaust pipes though.

I would go to the auto parts store and buy a OP gauge and connect it. Cost? Not as much as a fried engine.

Dude! Oil pressure and water temp need to be monitored during break in. Can you get a cheap gauge set locally? Not sure where you are, but you can get those little three gauge pods for like 30 bucks. They take about an hour to wire in. The oild pressure sensor goes down by the oil filter mount. Water temp goes in the intake by the water neck. Easy stuff. Well worth the peace of mind. I forgot a small oil return plug when I fired my engine up. There was no oil pressure. If I hadn't had that cheap gauge, I would have been out a lot of money and time.

Here's a couple pics I just took of where to hook the gauges up. Sorry about the small font.

Yeah, I am running 6x heads so I believe the sending unit screws into the big hole in the picture. I have a pipe cap covering the hole you are hooked up to.

6X heads have a provision for a sending unit between plugs #1 and #3, so you could put one there instead. I like mine by the water neck. Easy to see and work with.

Awesome, are you running stock wiring? Do you know what color the wire is that runs to the sensor? I've got two green wires (a light green and a darker green) in my engine bay that run to nothing.

Mine is darker green. I'm using a new repro wiring harness.
